WE ARE GOING THE SECOND MILE FOR YOUR PROTECTION
(The following, between asterisks, is a special Covid-19 statement)

***We sanitize all door knobs, light switches, chair arms, appliance and faucet handles between guests, with commercial strength germicidal bleach or Lysol.

During this time of social distancing, we have removed some of the accent pillows from the cabins, to reduce contact surfaces. We have also removed the second set of pillows from each bed. This provides a spacing of pillows, allowing a full week and some time in the sun between each guest.

Linens and towels are washed and dried with high heat.

We are blocking 24 hours between each reservation during this time, to help insure your safety.

Until this time is past, we are only providing breakfast by request. Let us know if you would like us to include one breakfast. Otherwise, no fresh food will be in cabins. (Coffee, tea, condiments, popcorn, cocoa, oil, vinegar remain, as always.)

We have also removed extra dishes, though we try to make sure sufficient dishes are available for your group. Please ask, if you need more. Dishes have only been washed by previous guests, so you may choose to wash before using. *** the end of covid-19 statement.

Returning guests will be pleased to discover a new trail leading to a secluded spot to sit and reflect, or enjoy supper, beside the stream, at the base of the ridge.

Sip your morning coffee with the woods just outside your window, or relaxing on the deck, or down in the woods by the creek. At night, listen to spring peepers and owls, while relaxing in the flickering warmth of an electric fireplace, inside, or a wood fire on the deck.
The patio overlooks the creek. You can relax there among the squirrels and birds, the watercress and wind, and the great old sycamores. Or roast your supper over the fire. Please bring your own firewood, or scavenge dead wood from the woods.

Also, a small charcoal grill is beside the deck. Bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid.

Please do not book with a toddler or crawling baby, as I will be compelled to cancel the reservation, which severely damages my hosting reputation. As you well know, your child is priceless; because of the high deck, this cabin is not the place for him/her.

A $15 cleaning fee is charged only ONCE per reservation, NOT per night.

Acceso para huéspedes
Parking is at your door. Guests are welcome to walk the trails and lanes on our 100 acre property.

If you are uncomfortable driving a rough Ozark driveway, consider booking elsewhere. We've never known anyone to have a problem getting in and out, but once a guest was afraid to drive down, so walked in. Please consider this when booking.

Otros aspectos destacables
Please note: UNTIL CV OUTBREAK IS PAST, BREAKFAST IN ONLY PROVIDED IF YOU REQUEST IT.

In normal times, or by request, One breakfast is provided for you to prepare. (Only one breakfast included with each reservation, regardless of length). This includes fresh eggs and milk from our happy hens and our Dexter cow (when available). Also fresh fruit from elsewhere. (No fresh fruit provided during CV time, in order to limit our trips to town.)

Springtime guests are invited to dig wild onions in the woods. Much of the year, watercress is available in the springfed creek. Do not take more than you can use during your visit.

Step back to simpler times! Our cabin has no television, and no wifi. Relax, and enjoy!

This home is located just south of Oaks, Oklahoma. It is twenty miles upriver from Tahlequah.

We live in Waterfall Hollow, immortalized in Wilson Rawls' Where the Red Fern Grows; Billy, his dad, granddad, and hounds stopped here on their way to the great coon hunt in Black Fox Hollow, just down the road.

Three miles away, the Oaks Indian Mission and Oaks Cemetery are rich with the history of the Moravians and Cherokees at the end of the Trail of Tears.

We are only two miles from Scenic Hwy 10, that winds along the Illinois River. There you can find many options for rafting, canoing and kayaking from April through October.

Our place is a great option for visitors to Natural Falls State Park, 18 miles away.

Thirteen miles from us, the J.T. Nickel Family Wildlife and Nature Preserve offers wonderful hiking trails on 17,000 acres of Ozark forest and grassland. Experience the Ozark Mountains as they were before settlement in this vast, amazing preserve.

Barely fifteen minutes away, near Kansas OK, you have several options for eating. Harvest House offers a great local eating experience. https://www.facebook.com/harvesthousespecials.

We have lived in eight states and in Guatemala. Everywhere, we have found delightful people and fascinating history and culture, yet nowhere have we found the sense of home we've found here in Northeastern Oklahoma. Whether traveling or hosting, each person I meet enriches my world. We are blessed to know each other.
