El alojamiento
Short stays all year round welcome - minimum stay is 3 nights starting on any day. Bookings will only be accepted from the lead guest who must be willing to provide their full name and home address directly to us and not just to Airbnb.

The front door leads into the sitting room which has a wonderful cushioned window seat – a perfect spot to sit and read the paper or watch the world go by. The Georgian oak table seats 3 comfortably. There is wooden flooring throughout the ground floor, a two-seater sofa, occasional armchair, Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker, free Wi-Fi and broadband and USB charger sockets fitted in every room (ex. the bathroom). For the cooler nights there is wood-burning effect electric fire and all rooms have radiators. All rooms (bar the single bedroom) have original oak beams.

The sitting room leads onto a new well-equipped kitchen with ceramic hob, built in single oven, extractor hood, under-counter SMEG fridge (with ice box), built-in dishwasher, coat rack and top of the range appliances – kettle, toaster, microwave and a Nespresso coffee (with capsules provided of course - you're a guest!). There is a selection of glassware, crockery, Vera Wang cutlery, cookware and good quality saucepans. An iron and ironing board is available in the kitchen pantry, together with a mini freezer.

The oak stairs lead off from the sitting room - they are relatively steep and narrow with two turns. Upstairs there are two bedrooms – one king sized bed (5ft wide, with king sized pillows) and one single bed, both have sprung mattresses and 100% cotton bedding and feather and down pillows and duvets for ultimate comfort and luxury, plus additional blankets, throws and hot water bottles located in the airing cupboard. Each bedroom has its own hairdryer too, so no need to pack your own. Both bedrooms have "wall" hanging space, with the addition of a large chest of drawers in the main bedroom and a wooden double valet stand. The single room has a small chest of drawers and a large concealed drawer that is built into the bed for additional storage space. Both bedrooms have a wall-mounted Smart TV.

There are towels in each bedroom and a hand towel in the brand-new bathroom which consists of a large walk-in shower with rainfall shower head, toilet, a beautiful traditional freestanding vanity unit with a large mirror, shaving mirror, double shaving socket (located on the inside right of the vanity unit) and a wall mounted heated towel rail.

There is a small enclosed courtyard garden with bistro table and chairs and garden lighting - perfect for alfresco dining if the weather permits or board games or the TV inside if it doesn’t!

Sorry, no smoking permitted (including vapour/e-cigarettes) and regrettably no pets and no children under the age of 10-years.

Dónde vas a estar

Shropshire, Inglaterra, Reino Unido

Charlie's Cottage is situated in Lower Corve Street, Ludlow, a 4 minute level walk from the train station and a 2 minute walk to the start of the town.

Ludlow sits on the edge of the Shropshire Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty and spectacular countryside and is a perfect location for exploring the Shropshire and Welsh countryside. The town has an abundance of historical architecture and has around 500 listed buildings.

Ludlow is vibrant and entertaining all year round. The inner and outer baileys of the castle are used for numerous events each year, such as Ludlow Spring Festival (May), the famous Ludlow Food and Drink Festival (which takes place every September which sees people flock to the town to visit over 140 food and drink producers and to take part in the sausage, bread and ale trails). It truly is a food lovers’ utopia.
A number of locals open their garden gates for the Secret Gardens of Ludlow in June each year too – a popular fundraising event.

Ludlow provides everything you could need – great coffee shops, wonderful places for lunch and dinner, a good selection of pubs, a speciality wine merchant only yards from the gates of Ludlow Castle and next door is a gourmet chocolate shop with chocolate truffles to die for. There are delicious delis for light bites and picnic treats, a speciality cheese shop championing local delicious artisan cheeses and award-winning Ludlow Brewery (located by the train station). There is also a parlour pub – The Dog Hangs Well (known by the locals as "Dog") at 14 Corve Street. If the tavern lamp is lit above the door, it’s open for business (Thurs, Fri and Sat between 5pm and 9pm). Ludlow has a range of small independent shops with a sprinkling of high-street chains too. For the horse racing enthusiasts Ludlow Race Course is a popular National Hunt racecourse, just 2- miles north of Ludlow.

There are antique and collectors’ fairs, local produce markets, craft markets showcasing local artists, design-makers and artisan food producers from Shropshire. If fly fishing tickles your fancy, there is fly-tying tuition on offer on the 1st Thursday of each month at The Unicorn Inn, Lower Corve Street.

Whitcliffe (10 minute walk from Charlie’s) gives you the famous view of Ludlow Castle, the Church and Ludlow’s historic town centre and beyond. Ludlow is a great base for exploring the nearby English Heritage and National Trust sites, such as; Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay Castle, Eastnor Castle and Powys Castle. Ludlow is also well positioned for day trips to Shrewsbury, Hereford, Worcester and Hay on Wye and with the train station just down the road – you could be in Cardiff in an hour and a half! If walking is your passion, Mortimer Forest is just 1 mile west of Ludlow and The Malvern’s, Brecon Beacons, Offa’s Dyke, the Long Mynd and the Wye Valley, are all within an hour’s drive of Ludlow.

Eating Out

Ludlow has many places to eat – too many to list individually, but a stone’s throw away from Charlie’s Cottage is the 17th Century Unicorn Inn - a beamed and wood panelled pub with an open fire, gastropub menu and vegetarian options. There are Thai, Japanese, Indian, Italian restaurants, and a licenced sea food bar at the Fish House - all within walking distance of Charlie’s. Bistro 7 serves great food in a relaxed atmosphere. If fine dining is what you desire, then Mortimer’s (17 Corve Street) is for you, serving modern British/French food. If it’s a river view you are after, the Charlton Arms is situated on the iconic Ludford Bridge with a roof top terrace and spectacular views. Talking of river views, the Green Café on Dinham Weir is a popular destination for locals as well as visitors and the adjacent Millennium Green is a perfect spot for a picnic underneath the cliff which the castle ruins sit upon. The choice is endless……you will have to come back again to continue your experience!
