El alojamiento
When you drive into my dead-end lane, you'll feel like you're in the countryside surrounded by acres of grass and trees, facing a lovely lake. But just a few minutes from here, you can get to almost everything you might need – gas, restaurants, pharmacy, groceries (e.g., Walmart is a mile away). Charlottesville is 17 miles away, Culpeper is 24 miles, Harrisonburg is 39 miles. Several Amtrak lines stop daily in Culpeper and Charlottesville (the same lines) – they will take you north to Washington D.C. and NYC, or south to many cities.

Acceso para huéspedes
LAUNDRY MATTERS: Unfortunately, during this pandemic period, I cannot welcome guests to use my washer & dryer in my living quarters, as I've done in the past. The nearest laundromat that is currently open is Sunshine Laundromat at 380 Greenbrier Dr, Charlottesville, VA 22901. It's a 22-minute drive from my Airbnb. There is also a dry cleaning store, Rudy’s Cleaners, 116 Cedar Grove Rd, Ruckersville, VA 22968. It's a 7-minute drive from my Airbnb.

Otros aspectos destacables
Rest assured, I have the required county business license, and my Airbnb space conforms to all local zoning, building and tax codes.

Mine is one of five houses on my country lane, all of them on 5-acre parcels. My neighbors and I are careful to drive slowly – 15 MPH – when entering or exiting the community, partly to preserve our privately maintained road and partly for the safety of walkers and animals. On the opposite side of my lake is a lovely community of home-owners who are aged 50 years or older. The area is very safe and very quiet, but is located a mile or two from shopping and food possibilities.

My formative years were spent in Morocco and Turkey, where my parents were educators in U.S. military schools. Eager to return to an international environment, I headed to Montreal for college and remained there to work as a journalist for a few years. I've spent most of my working life as a writer and an editor, usually for newspapers or university press offices. (Most recently, I was editor-in-chief at Eastern Mennonite University.) My husband Jim and I have four adult children who live in their own homes (nurse-anesthetist, college soccer coach, public radio journalist, property manager). I'm passionate about peace, racial reconciliation, and social justice issues, as reflected by my master's degree in conflict transformation. I read substantive stuff every hour that I can and largely avoid TV.
