El alojamiento
Our country house is located near the sea, surrounded by unspoiled nature, surrounded by olive trees, vines and palms and the gentle slopes of the hills planted with wheat. It is also located in a strategic position to visit the places of major cultural interest of Sicily such as 30 km the Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina and 74 km the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, 130 km Cefalù and 138 km Catania, a 15 km Mazzarino, 57 km Enna, 52 km Caltagirone, 92 km Ragusa.
All this will allow you to enjoy the best of all the beauties of the place and to savor the re-enactment of ancient folk traditions linked to their typical products.
The house can accommodate up to 7 people and consists of a room that houses a living room with a sofa bed and LED TV and a kitchen with table and chairs equipped with traditional oven and all the necessary utensils. There are also two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and a large veranda with barbecue where you can eat, sunbathe, read or spend your free time in a peaceful place surrounded by the noise of nature and the scents of the earth and where at nightfall you will be fascinated by the red sunsets and in the darkness by the myriad of shining stars.
Also plenty of space for parking, free WI-FI and bed and bath linens.
Some of the most famous seaside resorts are easily reachable, such as the spectacular Scala dei Turchi with its white marl cliffs, Capo Rossello and Monterosso, particular promontories of red limestone ending in the sea or the town of Torre Salsa a Regional Nature Reserve managed by the WWF where the Caretta Caretta turtles from May to August come to lay their eggs every year.
Guests will also receive detailed information on their arrival to discover the surrounding area, a territory that can give strong emotions through the charm of the discovery of a still unspoiled and wild landscape. There are seven Protected Natural Reserves in the Nisseno territory. In addition there are the remains of civilizations such as the Phoenicians, the Greeks, the Arabs and the Normans such as the Greek fortifications called "Mura Timoleontee" of Gela or the charming town of Sutera inserted in the circuit of the "Most Beautiful Villages of Italy". There are also traces of a more recent past such as the abandoned Mines of Zolfo, as testified for example by the Museum of Sulphites of "Trabia Tallarita", an example of industrial archeology of the early twentieth century.
Our brochures will take you through museums, archaeological remains, castles, villages, nature reserves and coasts with crystal clear sea and golden sand.
You will also find information on the most popular festivals linked to religious and folklore traditions.
During the Easter period in Sicily holidays are experienced by the inhabitants with intense vitality and the Christian and pagan rituals merge in a mixture of sensations, colors, flavors and sounds that give unique emotions. During the Holy Week several processions are held and all the moments of the Passion of Christ are recalled on Good Friday.
This is combined with a mild and sunny climate where the air, colors and scents are typical Sicilian.
During the summer there are typical devotional festivals such as that of the SS. Crucifix dell'Olmo to Mazzarino (the 2nd Sunday of May), the feast of S. Calogero and Sagra dei Pupi of Pane di Campofranco where large pieces of bread with human shapes are donated from the statue of the saint, also quoted by the magazine "Bell" 'Italy', the feast of St. Joseph in Riesi (last Sunday of July and March) or the historical procession in costume at Mussomeli. At Christmas, some evocative Living Nativity scenes are made in Sutera and Butera.
There will also be indications on local products, culinary traditions and food and wine tours. You will learn about typical sweets such as nougat, Rollò di ricotta, cannoli, buccellati, mostaccioli all prepared with local products such as honey, dried figs, almonds, ricotta, cooked wine, oil and citrus peel. And also the savory focaccia as the "muffolette" particular type of spongy bread filled with ricotta or caciocavallo, oil, pepper, anchovies or as "the mliulata" made with rolled puff pastry seasoned with olives, potatoes, cheese and minced meat. You will learn about typical products such as the Slow Food recognized Serradifalco honey or Riesi and Butera wines exported all over the world and classified D.O.C ..
Although the house is located in a quiet place is still convenient to all services as the village of Riesi can be reached in 5 minutes and in 10 minutes you can reach the medieval village of Mazzarino characterized by the many baroque churches and the remains of the castle that dominates the landscape.
Guests will be greeted by the courtesy and warmth of the owners
