We couldn’t have picked a better location to spend our 1 year wedding anniversary. We spent a beautiful Saturday at Blackwater Falls and exploring any trace of the Blackwater 100 (historic offroad race) around town. Sunday was raining and we spent the entire day at the cabin having the most peaceful day watching the clouds roll through.

Cute and cozy place. We had 5 adults, an infant and a large dog and had plenty of room. Location was central to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley and 30 minutes from Seneca Rocks. Great place to stay.

I paid for extras, and they were fantastic. The views were incredible. The hot tub was one of the best that we have been in. Thank you for a great stay!!! The McNeils

We decided last minute to go to the mountains for the weekend. We have two pups and they were welcomed. No hassle for bringing them! The old school house is beautiful, and the host are so kind and sweet. I even sent them pictures of the trout we caught. I been all over the country and to other countries and this is by far one of the cleanest places we have stayed. I would 10/10 recommend! The hot was even clean. Perfect for finishing!! We will be back!! Thank you all again!!

Great location and a perfect place for our family!

This was the perfect spot for a honeymoon. The cabin was gorgeous and had some Christmas decor which was very festive. I’d recommend to anyone and would love to come back.

Enjoyed my stay. Building is one half of a 2 unit townhome but felt very private, both inside and out. Hot tub and fireplace both were easy to work with clear instructions for hot tub use. Place was clean and cozy with comfortable beds. Location was convenient to the ski areas, and a nice view of Timberline was available through the trees from the back porch or hot tub area. The office for check in was about a 6 minute drive from the property, and check in was hassle free, with a simple pick up and drop off box for the keys. Matt was responded very quickly (less than 10 minutes) to a question I had while driving to the property. Kitchen appliances are a little old but everything is perfectly functional and well stocked in terms of dishes and cookware. It’s a great value and I would recommend to others.

Catherine and Shawn are absolutely wonderful hosts—warm, welcoming, and incredibly responsive. We had a major issue during our stay, and they handled it effortlessly and with such kindness. The house itself is charming and cozy, and the river and hot tub made for an especially peaceful retreat. I would absolutely love to come back. This place easily gets a 15/10 from me!

Where to even start? This cabin was the absolute best. We went with a total of 8 adults and 6 children under the age of 5. The cabin was so much more spacious than the photos make it appear, which was a very pleasant surprise. The finished basement is huge and was a great space for the kids. The kitchen was very well equipped and spacious for us to cook meals and snacks. The beds were comfortable and the walls are thick and you can’t hear a lot of outside noise. The location is great - about 10 minutes to Davis and 15 to Thomas and plenty of hiking and other activities. Our Apple Maps didn’t route us to the right place, but G00gle Maps did, just as an FYI. Seriously can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back.

We had a great weekend stay at this cabin! The space was incredibly spacious and spotless, which made us feel right at home. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook meals, and we loved how modern and well-maintained everything was. A highlight of our stay was definitely the jacuzzi – it was the perfect way to relax. Overall, this cabin is a great place to stay, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable getaway.

We were staying the weekend for the Maple festival and Patti’s cottage was absolutely perfect for the weekend! Soon after arriving I got a migraine and Patti was so accommodating and let us check in a few hours early so I could rest, an absolute life saver! She provided everything we could have needed and more! Definitely will be returning!

We had a wonderful winter stay! The house was inviting and cozy, and as other guests have mentioned well appointed with comfortable beds.

Booking process was easy, check in was quick. The cabin was clean. There were a lot of amenities. The only downfall was you can hear the neighbors shutting the bathroom door. Which wasn’t a big deal with me, but if you have dogs that bark at doors it might be a problem. The host were great and responsive.

Our family and one other spent the New Year's holiday weekend at Skier's View while skiing at nearby Timberline Resort with our kids. Colleen was extremely proactive in sharing all of the pertinent info and went above and beyond to detail every aspect of the home as well as the surrounding community. The rental was a great price and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the beautiful view of Timberline, Canaan, and Whitegrass. We have stayed at many homes in the Valley and this was our favorite!

We stayed at David's wonderful home for a few days around the New Year's. The kitchen was well appointed, the beds comfortable and the gas fireplace was really comforting when it was cold and stormy outside. wonderful location close to the national wildlife refuge, State Parks and the great little towns of Davis and Thomas West Virginia. highly recommended!

We booked James’s place at the last minute, and we chose it for the location rather than the accommodation. However, when we arrived we had a wonderful surprise, because it was much nicer than the photos had let us to believe. It was spacious and comfortable, with a good-sized kitchen and a lovely sitting area. The kids loved having the playground outside, and it was amazing to soak in the hot tub surrounded by snow, watching the stars come out. We also enjoyed using the indoor swimming pool and games room, and visiting the ponies at the riding centre. The kids sledded down the hill outside and we also went sledding at Blackwater Falls, which was fantastic. The waterfall looked so beautiful with all the icicles. We didn’t have time to try Timberline, but the skiing at Canaan Valley was reasonably priced and great fun. We also had a few nice meals in Davis and Thomas, and a beautiful walk to Douglas falls. Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we will definitely come again if we can…

Friends and family members rented several cabins at Black Bear for a wonderful weekend! Joan’s description warns that AWD is needed at this time of year—and it is. 🤪. Maintenance at Black Bear was extremely responsive when one of our group had difficulty getting out of the resort due to snow/ice. Nice to have the covered back porch to take off snowy wet clothes/boots.

My wife and I needed a trip away from the city for the long holiday weekend where we could enjoy some good activity in peaceful surroundings with our dog. This cozy pedestal cabin in Black Bear Resort was just what we were looking for. Check in was easy by picking up the keys at the resort lodge. The place had everything we needed to a cook a couple nights for ourselves, including the gas grill on the deck. The wall-mounted 4K flatscreen TV with Roku let us relax after three active days out and about in Canaan Valley while we listened to the thunderstorms roll over the mountains each evening. This would certainly be a fine place for folks (especially with kids -- there were two sets of bunk beds in the loft) to use a base for their WV adventures any time of year!

We had a great time. The passport sent was useful and very accurate. The space was clean and the heated pool was great.

Amazing location in the village, best hot tub of any building! This makes it all worth it! The unit itself was very small and old, could use quite a bit of updates. The bed was nice and soft. You are definitely timely paying for location and amenities with this one, but still worth it in my eyes.

5 star stay here in Davis. The space is beautiful and spacious end unit townhouses on two levels. The hot tub was brand new and water was pristine. Me and my family really enjoyed our stay. There is a lovely community space a few feet away with playground, pool and lake. I would highly recommend this place

Great stay utilizing Don's place down at Silver Creek. Highly recommend for lower cost vs the top of the mountain options with Shuttle availability to the top.
