We have just come back from spending nine unforgettable nights at Penzhorn Rest Cottage and it exceeded all of our expectations - even better than the photos! Zonja, our host, welcomed us warmly on arrival and was so accommodating to make sure we were happy throughout our stay. Her hospitality has honestly blown us away! The highlight of our stay was the daily sight and sound of the river with nightly hippo visitors which added such a magical touch to our stay, immersing us in the beauty and awe of the African bush. Whether enjoying a coffee while reading by the river or relaxing in the ‘bosbad’ every moment felt really special to us! Zonja’s meticulous eye for detail was evident in the small touches around the cottage which made us feel right at home. This is a haven for nature lovers seeking a luxurious yet authentic escape. If you decide to book this listing you won’t be disappointed! We left feeling rejuvenated and are already looking forward to returning!

Getting to the place was easy. Upon arrival we were met by a lovely lady by the name of Veronica. She did the house tour and the place is really lovely and beautiful. Prior to my booking I asked Jordan if there is fishing seeing the pictures on their place she said yes there is. Even on arrival Veronica saw our fishing equipment and nothing was said about the rules of fishing. We took our fishing equipment to the river and caught about 5 fishes. While there the Owner by the name of Eric came to me and told me that the rules of fishing are that it’s a “catch and release policy” we were not supposed to fish out to keep for ourselves.Nothing was said prior about the policy even on their rules in the house. I contacted Jordan and she said to the fishing was only a favour to us so we should abide by the rules. Usually most establishments make rules known to their guests before they book. They said fire wood available and no fee was mentioned. We paid for the firewood. This put us off.

Amazing. Perfect for unplugging and resetting

I booked Lara’s place for my in-laws and they had a great time. The place had everything they needed and was clean and comfortable. Check in was easy and Lara gave some really useful information about the area. This region is stunning and I would highly recommend it. It’s not far from Hoedspruit and some great restaurants as well as fantastic walks and hikes around Blyde River Canyon.

I had a wonderful stay at Homely Escapes. The place was clean with all of the amenities that a self-catering unit requires. The A/C was very welcome in the heat! Koketso was attentive and considerate, and was always ready to help. And I was so grateful for Mokgadi's recommendations for the work I was doing whilst in Phalaborwa. I will definitely return for my future stints in the town. Rea leboha!!

We had an awesome stay at Louise and Joe’s place. The place is conveniently placed next to the high way and close to shops and restaurant. I wouldn’t mind back there again should an opportunity avail itself.

From the beginning of my stay here it felt like my home. I stayed in the Big Five room for two months. A beautiful, very cozy apartment for yourself, with its own entrance. Beautiful garden with lovely swimming pool. Walking distance to the center of town where you have enough shops for everything you need. Brenda and Marius are worth having this lovely Airbnb. Everything is done to make your stay pleasant. When I have the chance I will definitely come back here! Beautiful memories !
