We stayed at Elijah’s apartment during the Goroka Show. The apartments are right opposite the showground so we were able to arrive at the event before the crowds and had the added advantage of being able to pop ‘home’ for a break. The apartment itself is basic but clean and comfortable and had all that we needed for self catering - fridge, stove microwave, utensils etc. A big bowl of fruit and several packets of local coffee were also provided. Elijah’s manager David and his staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful. They met us at the airport and took us into town when we wanted to visit the market or shops. (Though we could also walk into town in about 20 mins.) Would definitely stay here again.

Bessie"s home is nestled in a beautiful village on the outskirts of Madang. It is surrounded by lush gardens with bountiful tropical fruits. Take a swim in the lagoon or go for a walk amongst the palms and wide sniles will follow you through the village. Bessie is a fantastic host and helped to make my stay very special. I will be back.

Goroka home away from home

The host went above and beyond, picking us up at the airport, driving us to town each day, essentially providing security for us. Ekesu became more like a friend than a property manager. As a source of information and assistance, he was invaluable. The house is very roomy and the bed was very comfortable. The house was kept neat, but we chose not to use the kitchen. Goroka in Papua New Guinea is not Paris or New York City, so temper your expectations -- this is a PNG experience. For example, the shower delivers hot water, but in a very light stream. The fact is, there are not many accommodations in Goroka, and this home is not walkable to the city center; however Ekesu more than made up for any minor issues by being the best host one could hope to meet, taking us anywhere we wished to go at any time. As a result we had many conversations, and he gave us a lot of insight into daily life in Goroka. Priceless!

Quiet Sanctuary in the ❤️ of Downtown Port Moresby

This place was perfect for our needs. Location felt very safe for POM outside of staying at a flash hotel. We really enjoyed having access to the shared pool and aircon, the neighbors were nice, and the outside seating and views were great. The inside is sparse with glaring lights a super wobbly table (tried to fix to be able to at least sit at it but never really worked) and we couldn't get the TV to work, but it had everything we needed including a fully functioning kitchen. The place is very secure with 24/7 guards who even went to get us a couple items from a near by shop at night as we didn't want to go out at night on our own (we were two women). Some things caused slight frustrations: pick up overly complicated - could have just provided map/photos instead of waiting for 30 min at near by Crown Hotel, no salt/pepper/oil despite in description, only two rolls of TP for week (again night outings tricky). Do buy a local sim at airport, roaming means no one can respond to you!

Es war ein wunderschöner Aufenthalt. Dorothy und ihre Familie sind wunderbare Menschen und sehr freundlich. Sie kümmerten sich sehr um mich während meines Aufenthaltes. Von der persönlichen Abholung am Flughafen, bis zu Organisation von Taxis und Tipps für Restaurants. Auch zeigten sie mir ein wenig das lokale Leben.

It was a great Time with Ahulo and his wonderful Family!!! 😇 They made us feel like home from the first day on! We cooked together, exchanged cultural things and shared our Story's. We also had great days walking around Port Moresby with his Son Victor and his Friend Boyd. It was the best decision to stay with Ahulo and his family. After a trip to another Place in PNG we decided to go back and to stay another 3 days in Ahulos Place. Its a real Local ecperience and the accommodation is really clean! I cant find words, how wonderful the time was! We hope to see you Guy's again one Day. Thank you sooo much for this beautiful experience! 😇

Our stay at Manaia Guesthouse was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, Albert and Alice, along with their wonderful staff, made us feel right at home. Their hospitality was exceptional, ensuring that every detail of our stay was taken care of. One of the highlights was definitely the dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, showcasing local flavors that left us wanting more. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring Kimbe. The guesthouse itself is charming and well-maintained, providing a cozy atmosphere that was perfect for our family. We appreciated the personal touch and attention to detail that Albert and Alice provided, making our experience all the more special. I can't recommend Mania Guesthouse enough for anyone visiting Kimbe. If you're looking for a welcoming place to stay with fantastic food and outstanding service, look no further! We had the best experience and can't wait to return.

We had a lovely stay at Ninz’s place. Ninz is very responsive with her communications which we appreciated. We were greeted warmly by Ninz’s sister Kaminio upon arrival and she checked in on us during our stay to make sure we were fine with everything. It is a very secured compound with a security guards at the door always, and they are always very happy to help whenever we had any questions. Very close to the airport, it takes around 10 if not traffics. The aparment itself is spacious and well equipped, it really feels like a home away from home. One thing to note is that you do require transport to get around, and Ninz provided a reliable driver’s number. There is also option to hire a car although we did not make use of this option as prices are out of our budget this time. All is all we would recommend Ninz’s place if you are visiting Port Moresby and would like a home away from home!

The best hosts ever!!! Norah and her family are amazing. We felt very welcomed. The guesthouse is very safe, comfortable and you have all you need in once place. She picked us up/ drop us off from the airport, helped us buy the groceries and recommended the best tour guide to visit the tribes. I highly recommend this place for everyone ( solo travelers, bigger groups, etc)

Yana is a wonderful host and did everything to make my stay unforgettable. She picked me up from the airport, cooked dinner and breakfast, drove me around town and was very helpful and generous. Plus, she's fun to be around. The room and house were perfect and cozy. I would come back anytime.

I received so much support and felt like a part of the family during my stay. When I lost my wallet and when my return flight was canceled, the hosts were incredibly helpful and supportive. I was truly moved by their kindness. The area around the hotel is safe, and I was able to walk around alone. I had many opportunities to communicate with the local people in Goroka, which made my experience even more special. It was such a wonderful stay that I plan to recommend this place to my friends. (However, I was very disappointed that on the last day, my guide, Jon, broke our promise and never showed up. Please be cautious when choosing a guide.)

Wunderbarer Aufenthalt auf Fisherman Island… am Morgen einen Strandspaziergang zu lokalen Fischern… frischesten Fisch gekauft, un ihn über offenem Feuer zu grillen und zu räuchern. Herz was willst du mehr :) Unterkunft mit Dusche ist auf der ruhigeren Seite der Insel… aber kleiner Shop in der Nähe, wo man die nötigsten Sachen bekommt. Alles in allem… ein wahr gewordener Traum und ein tiefer Einblick in die lokale Kultur. Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt.
