We had an excellent experience stay. The home was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described in the listing. Communication with the host was easy and friendly, and they were very responsive to any questions I had. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to others looking for a great stay in the area!

My family and I had a fantastic time at Shanks Cabin! It was clean, cozy and had everything we could possibly need for a weekend getaway for our family of 5. The beds were comfortable and the cabin had all the amenities including a grill, hot tub, great outdoor space, and a fire pit. The space felt private and was very close from the El Portal entrance to Yosemite (1 hour or so, and a BEAUTIFUL drive to Yosemite). The hosts were very communicative and check in and check out were very easy. Would absolutely stay here again.

The cottage is cozy and the perfect place for a couple to stay. Really enjoyed the welcome and the cleanliness. Besides having the sound of the creek in the background my favorite part of the stay was the vintage claw foot tube. Hot baths after a day of hiking in Yosemite was a cherry on top! The bed is soft and the linens were smooth. I slept well all 4 nights we stayed.

We had an amazing stay in this lovely home. The entire home was spotless, the running water was warm, and the property was peaceful. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to get away.

Amazing stay. Perfect distance to Yosemite (about 30-40 minutes to the front gate). Restrooms were very close to cabins and had very warm water. Had pots, pans, and dishes to use, as well as ice chests, soap, and sponges. Was very quiet and we even saw deer and wild turkey right outside the cabin in the early morning. Highly recommend to someone who is trying to get out into nature, but still wants the comfort of having heating and a bed.

Enjoyed our stay. The cabin is exactly as described. Highly recommend arriving during daylight hours. Arriving after dark was an experience, especially if you’re not familiar with the area. Bathrooms were very clean. Mac even left the porch light and the heater on for us. The cabin was nice and toasty upon arrival. Thank you Mac!

Me and a couple friends went for a last minute trip to Yosemite to hike the half dome. We booked this place a week before the trip. Considering when we booked, nothing really beats the price to location! If your expectations are for a nice camping spot, thats exactly what this place is. Mac is also very kind and accommodating!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin was well equipped and had plenty of room. My kids loved table tennis in the basement. We also enjoyed eating outdoors on the deck the last night. It is a beautiful area with wildlife all around including deer and turkey. For those staying near Yosemite, the home is a convenient drive (~75 min) and a reasonable alternative to staying within Yosemite itself. In my opinion, this cabin is a better value for the interior space and reprieve from Yosemite's crowds. The hosts were responsive to my questions, which is always nice. Great place to stay!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful cabin nestled in the mountains, and I can't recommend it enough! The location was absolutely stunning, with a breathtaking view. The cabin itself was cozy and well-appointed, with a rustic charm that made it feel like a home away from home. Inside, the space was clean and inviting, and super cozy. The jacuzzi and fire place were perfect for this time of year! Perfect spot if you want to go to Yosemite, Mariposa, and Bass lake. The host was incredibly welcoming and provided great recommendations for local attractions. Overall, my stay was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, and I can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! It was clean, well maintained and we appreciated the great wifi connection. We had so much fun playing all the games available. My daughter loved the cute upstairs room—it was the perfect little getaway for her. The cabin was comfortable, and exactly what we needed for a relaxing time. Beautiful, small cabin located near the top of the mountains, allowing amazing views, especially for sunrises and sunsets! The location of the cabin allows for serenity, lots of wildlife, and complete silence! The cabin was in pristine condition with nothing out of sorts. The owner, Tim, welcomed us and made us feel right at home! 10/10, would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for the aforementioned qualities!

I stayed here with my husband to celebrate my 30th birthday, looking for a peaceful escape from the chaos of Silicon Valley. I wanted a space that felt like home—quiet, cozy, and free from distractions—and this tiny home was exactly that. It’s deep in a rural area, surrounded by trees and beautiful mountain views, and it was the perfect place to unplug and spend intentional time together with minimal electronics. The kitchen was fully stocked, which we really appreciated—we cooked all our own meals and felt completely at ease. While it isn’t walkable to town, it’s conveniently located just 10–15 minutes from the restaurants in Oakhurst and about 15–20 minutes from Mariposa Grove. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic getaway that feels both remote and accessible, I highly recommend this place. It was exactly what I needed—and I’d absolutely stay here again.

Jimmy was an amazing host along with Cowboy, his horse. It was a private location very suitable for a romantic getaway. We made all our meals there. The kitchen was well equipped. Jimmy always made himself available for questions or concerns as well as giving us space and privacy. Thanks Jimmy

Good afternoon, My family and I went to Yosemite National Park for the first time. We do recommend staying at this place it was great , really nice, clean. The area was really peaceful and quiet. The instructions were easy on how to get in. Same with finding the place.

We had an amazing experience. The place is cozy, private, peaceful and full of supplies (kitchen, bathroom and food). Hosts were responsive and friendly. Mark kindly showed us around the farm and we were able to pet and feed the animals (duck, geese, goats, baby pigs, chicken, rooster and cats). Wifi works pretty good, there is an cooling unit if hot weather and an electric heater if weather is cold. we used the heater and work very good. Bed and pillows are confortable. Free parking space. Keep in mind this is an open space and mosquitos may arrive. 40min from Yosemite south entrance and 1.5 hrs from Ysoemite Valley 100% recommended place. We would definitely come back.

Loved our stay! Very cute studio house that has all the amenities you need. We stayed for three nights while hiking in Yosemite and it was perfect!

We chose the location because of proximity to Yosemite. The added bonus is the beautiful Bass Lake. This relatively small community has several good places to eat amid nice beautiful surroundings. Oakhurst for groceries etc is about 20 minutes away. ‘Our” cottage was cozy, very clean, and we felt very much at home.

Loved the stay would definitely come back and stay here again!!! Me and my family loved it and enjoyed our vacation time here.
