I had the pleasure of staying with Sanita and Arvind (Shelvin’s parents) for 2.5 months, and it has been nothing short of amazing. They are truly some of the kindest and most welcoming people I have ever met. The room was perfect—comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, and air conditioning, which is a rare luxury in Fijian homes. The house is surrounded by a nice garden with fresh fruit. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, and they warmly encourage you to use it. For anyone working or visiting the Fiji Football Academy, the location is ideal—just a ten-minute walk away. Ba town is also easily accessible, only five minutes by car, with taxis costing around $2 USD and buses even cheaper. I arrived as a stranger and am leaving as part of the family. Without a doubt, this is the best place to stay in the Ba area!

The bure was a great private getaway in the Yasawas. The room was as photographed, keep in mind it is a simple "resort" so your bathroom is going to be dated/simple compared to standard resorts in the US or elsewhere. The resort will pick you up in a small metal boat, you may want to bring a hard-sided suitcase rather than fabric/soft to avoid things from getting wet if it is raining. The meals were simple, we had one regular and one no-fish diet request and they were able to accommodate us. Most drinks in the "bar" were reasonably priced at $3-4 USD so be sure to bring cash, there is essentially no where else on the island to buy drinks/snacks. The beachfront area had some great snorkeling off to the right, and we would happily visit again. Be sure you bring bug-spray, the bugs are going to find your skin during breakfast and dinner. We just wish there was warm water (the naturally warm water wasn't as warm as we would like for showers, especially getting the bug spray off at night).
