Quaint and peaceful place perfect for a long weekend gateway! Alicia is a very responsive host that quickly addressed a couple of minor issues at check-in. We ate a couple of times at the golf club’s restaurant nearby (~10min away, good food) and ordered in from a local pizzeria for our last night at the lodge (Alessandro’s). Highly recommend this place.

Fairview is an absolute gem! This circa 1867 historic home provided the perfect setting for our family Christmas. The charm and character of the house made us feel completely at home, and the accommodations were nothing short of perfect for our entire family. The thoughtful welcome treats and fresh flowers were such a warm and special touch that made us feel instantly at ease. The home was clean and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed to pull off a wonderful Christmas dinner. The kitchen had all the essentials, making it so much easier to prepare and enjoy our meal together. The spectacular mountain views added a peaceful backdrop, and the resident peacock was a delightful surprise, bringing laughs and joy to our grandchildren. If you’re looking for a place that combines history, beauty, and comfort, Fairview is the perfect choice. We’ll cherish the memories we made here and hope to return someday!

This place was wonderful! The air bnb is a very beautiful, unique and fun historical home! Janeen was very accommodating and very responsive! The air bnb is stocked with everything you could possibly need! The back porch over looking the river was my favorite spot! Very peaceful and serene! I loved this place and would definitely stay again.

The location was convenient, and the host was incredibly responsive and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We stayed at The Frances home July 6th thru July 13th, 2024. The house is so much nicer in person, the pictures just don't it justice. The beds were fine, the kitchen is well stocked and the place was very clean. Tons of room on the lower level to spread out and enjoy the pool table and ping pong. The lot is sloped but not too steep and they have a very nice, concrete walkway. The owners allow use of their kayaks, canoe and tiki hut on the dock. The hot tub on the lower deck was a great way to relax and enjoy the lake view. The house is in a no wake cove and just across the water from Jake's Place. Super close to the SML bridge and Bridgewater marina. Jake's has a restaurant, camper park and beach area with a slide. They do provide internet although we struggled many times with the connections, just power cycled their router and it was back up and running. T-mobile is the provider, I believe. The one major negative is no trash service, not even trash cans. Gotta fix that...

My man and I had a wonderful time having a quiet and private weekend getaway. The place is so cozy and the hosts are so welcoming. It’s a beautiful view off the back porch. One of the highlights of my weekend was getting to spend time with Bilbo the cat. He was so snuggly and gave us a warm welcome as soon as we arrived! Would love to come back here again!

What a wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing and exploring this part of Virginia. It's beautiful and so full of interesting places to visit. The farmhouse was so nice -clean and well-stocked. And, of course, the fresh eggs were the 'icing on the cake." We enjoyed our stay very much.

We have been staying at the Parsonage now for 5 years and it became our favorite place when we visit VA. Anne is a very generous hostess and she continues to upgrade the house and make it even more comfortable! The mountain views are gorgeous anytime of the year! We love her place, the details, the books, the artwork and the view! We hope to be back soon!

We loved our stay at this cabin! It offered total privacy, making it feel like our own little hideaway in nature. The surroundings were stunning—peaceful woods, fresh air, and gorgeous views all around. Inside, the cabin was cozy and thoughtfully furnished for comfort. We enjoyed walking down to see the waterfall on the lower field. The a/c was refreshing for what turned out to be a summer-like Easter. A perfect escape for a long weekend!

Prishanti was an amazing host! She was extremely friendly and welcoming, and made me feel at home. The place was so beautiful. I wanted to have a weekend to escape and unwind and my goals were accomplished! The view was stunning. It was so quiet and peaceful. There was nearby hiking that I was able to take my dogs. The accommodations were very clean. The best part was just sitting out on the deck as the sun went down drinking a glass of wine with my dogs. The weekend was perfect.

A perfect getaway that provided peaceful views, nature, and bonus for being pet friendly. Kendra's husband was doing some work on the property, it was a pleasure running into him and talking. Entire property was well kept, very satisfied.

This was our second stay at the Humble Abode. Perfect place to enjoy the spring! Cozy cabin with a great deck and rocking chairs to sit in the mornings or evenings and enjoy the beautiful views. Great fire pit to sit around in the evening to enjoy the stars. Houston and Anne Marie were super responsive and helpful, including taking time out of their day to get the outdoor shower working and bring up more firewood. Our 2 dogs had a great time as well, lounging around with us on the porch or watching us play cornhole later in the day. Would highly, highly recommend the Humble Abode for those looking for a comfy, peaceful getaway. We hope to be back ourselves!

We were looking for a place to get away, disconnect, enjoy some privacy, nature and go on hikes. The proximity to various great hiking trails and waterfalls met the expectations: all the hikes we planned to do were between 5-20 minute drives from here. Whoever is responsible for the vision of this property is brilliant. I can't say enough about it. The location, landscaping, it's orientation on the land, the various pathways around the property, the abundance of outdoor hangout options - by the hottub, the pool, master balcony, around firepit, in the sand by the river, on the riverside deck, and ... I've probably forgotten some! Incredible foliage in all directions, and that gorgeous pink blossom tree! At night, I was awe-struck by the lighting positioned on the river. It was like an impossible art exhibit made of pure nature. Pictures and words cannot convey how serene, beautiful, and casually luxurious it was. Felt like our own private Garden of Eden paradise.

This is our second time in this place and we will be back again. We have so many memories here, from paddling on the pond, to sitting by the fire under the stars, and waking up to play in the river. The home is so rustic and cozy, fully equipped with everything you need. I love the disconnection from the rest, so relaxing, so needed. I recommend downloading the Google map of the area so you know how to get to hikes and attractions. Perfect for kids, perfect for couples, perfect for anyone who wants a chill or adventurous stay.

Great place. Great location in proximity to Liberty University. Our host was gracious and kind. He was prompt with communication and never intruded on us when we were there. Although it was in his basement, it did not feel like it. We came and went with relative ease. The property is clean and well maintained. We would rent from Steve again.

Beautiful location. Room for several family members. Nice pool, deck, fire pits and chairs. Very peaceful and beautiful scenery. Expect to see deer playing in the field. I will say, if you’re a light sleeper you will hear every single board creak with any movement. The only couch is also in the basement, so no room to comfortably sit inside and visit. Plenty of wooden chairs at the dinning table, just not as comfy.
