Come out and enjoy nature and look at the stars at the Ponderosa. Lake Sam Rayburn is 35 min., Steinhagen Reservoir is 10 min. away and Big Thicket National Game preserve is minutes away. The kids will be in the water by nine and you won't see them again until they're hungry. Our dock runs 5-6 feet deep — deep enough to actually jump off, which is rarer on this lake than you'd think — plus a slide into the shallow end the little ones won't get off of. Kayaks and a paddleboard included. Meanwhile you're on the shaded back deck with coffee, looking straight down at the dock. You can see them the whole time, which means you can actually sit down. 2,300 sq ft. Sleeps 10.

Big Thicket is just down the street and offers hiking, canoeing, kayaking and picnic opportunities. We also have an onsite events space you can inquire about. Quaint studio guest house located on a private 2 mile lake, ideal for all boating activities including fishing, water skiing or just soaking up the sun. This property is secluded under a shaded canopy of oaks, in a quiet, country setting. A fire pit, BBQ area, swim area and dock, which is fitted with cleats for docking your boat or jet skies, are available for use. Plenty of parking. Pets under 20lbs are allowed with PRE-APPROVAL BEFORE BOOKING ONLY.

The Longhorn Guest Cabin

This is a newly renovated guest cabin located on a 70 acre ranch with access to walking trails, the Theuvinin creek for fishing and three miles from the start of the National Park Service Turkey Creek trail and the Pitcher Plant Trail. During summer months the park service has night hikes, canoeing, star gazing and free fishing days. Microwave oven available. Cabin accommodates 4 guest with a minimum of a four night stay. Cabin is nonsmoking.
