A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Wonderful location, the kids loved having a pool and playground (or 2 if you count the pub playground) at their doorstep. The views were lovely too. Also a testament to the layout was how easily pur kids ended up making friends with other kids there over such a short period. The only 2 things I would change - beds were too hard for me (but that is personal preference) and the showers weren't the best - though showers in the pool area were perfect. Clearly not something that would change my 5 star rating. A couple of other points - being so close to Carsington Water (1 minute drive) was superb. Ashbourne and Matlock also close and lovely locations - very much enjoyed our little excursions there and to The Heights of Abraham. Thanks, a lovely stay.

The house was absolutely incredible and excellent value for money. It was in stunning surroundings, the hot tub was amazing and the exclusive booking system for use of the pool was a lovely addition. The house was spotless and full of character and the private garden was also wonderful. The beds were really comfortable and there was just the right balance of charm, space and comfort. We definitely struck gold when booking this gem. Thanks so much for all of your support in making this a trip to remember!

We had a great stay - the house is peaceful, quiet, clean, and especially cosy with the woodburner on! Richard and Jo were excellent hosts, very friendly and accommodating, and offered great advice on places to visit nearby with our two small children. We all slept amazingly well (very unusual with a 1 and 3 year old); the beds were comfy and it was so quiet. The house is well set up for visiting with toddlers - there are toys, books, stair gates etc. and the large garden is great to let them run around in. We would absolutely return, especially in the summer to really make use of the beautiful garden.

We had a wonderful stay at Knockerdown cottages. It was everything we hoped for and more. The children enjoyed the facilities (swimming pool and field for playing games) and we had some lovely walks in the surrounding area. Thank you very much! We look forward to revisiting soon!

great cottage in a fantastic location with Carsington Water in walking distance and a lovely country pub too! Cottage had everything we could have asked for and our host was really helpful when we needed them. Highly recommend :)

I stayed with my family at the cottages on a trip to Alton Towers. I would recommend it to anyone very spacious, clean and great communication with the staff. Lots on site to keep the kids entertained. Would definitely stay again

We had a lovely stay at Knockerdown Cottages! The room was very clean, well-maintained, and the check-in and check-out process was seamless without any manual intervention, which made everything so easy. The property is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The only minor issue we faced was that shampoo and shower gel were not provided by the owners, so it would be good to carry your own toiletries. Overall, a wonderful experience — would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay!

This was a last minute booking and we got really lucky with this gem. It was the most beautiful setting and the house was charming and very spacious and perfect for the surrounding views which are just stunning. The house had all that you would need and is very comfortable and cosy. The welcome folder was informative nd highlighted local amenities and places of interest. The location is accessible and there are so many local shops and big supermarkets on your doorstep. It makes for an easy and stress free break. I would highly recommend staying here and the hosts accessibility and prompt responses was what made this experience perfect.

Adorable home perfect for our overnight stay. Extremely clean & tidy. Both bedrooms were large & nicely furnished. So lovely and quiet at night, very restful sleep. Kaine was a perfect host and the property was easy to find and get into. Nice & decent size Co-op on the main road B6016, about 5 minutes walk. Also, a few takeaways, pubs around there and on Somercotes Road. We had a relaxing, very comfortable stay, thank you Kaine

We had a fantastic stay! The host was really helpful, gave us some recommendations of local places to eat. The house had all the amenities you could need to make your stay a real home away from home. It was spotlessly clean and spacious. Would highly recommend!

We booked the house for a family weekend visiting in Derby. Great central location. Fantastic house with high ceilings and original period architecture, tastefully decorated. Loads of space to relax in and was a perfect stay. Highly recommended.

We used this lovely home while waiting for the purchase of our new home to complete, we wanted somewhere in Chesterfield that was going to feel like a home and be comfortable while I’m undergoing chemo, Winston’s home ticked every box and our 2 dogs and 2 house cats definitely approved, the garden is secure and safe, parking outside was perfect, we couldn’t have picked a better property, even suppling a Christmas tree and decorations made it that much more special, thank you 🙏

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay for our daughters 21st birthday celebrations with family. She is a stately home fan and this house was like a mini one! We all had a lovely weekend and Penny was very helpful if we needed anything. Thank you for use of your beautiful house!

Brilliant value for a group of us including four teenagers for a football match in Mansfield. Good location (10 minutes walk to town and 15 minutes to the football ground) and plenty of take aways/shops nearby. Plenty of space in the house and big fridge/freezer etc and due to the size of the group, it was a real bonus to have 3 bathrooms/showers. Also, parking was good as we travelled in four separate cars and a quiet area as the house is located across from a primary school so very little noise at night. Definitely would book again but hoping not to if we get promoted😀

Katie’s place was great and finished to a high level. We really enjoyed the space as a family, it was like home from home and we have recommended it to our local family (as we stayed fir a family occasion). She intends to recommend to anyone who needs somewhere to stay in the area 😀

We had a fabulous stay in this beautiful property. It was spotlessly clean, spacious, and comfortable and the views are just stunning. It has everything you could possibly need to feel right at home with lots of extra little touches which made our stay all the more comfortable. Communications with Peter and Louise were easy and friendly and we felt warmly welcomed. Would love to return!

It was a wonderful place to rent for the weekend love the place especially the down stairs spacious and we had all we needed to make our stay comfortable and stress free. Shops are within walking distance over all it was excellent and would use again

Stayed at Rebecca’s place with my three little ones and it was a real pleasure, from the moment we walked through the door we felt right at home! The kids had plenty of space to run and play, the home is lovely and spacious with a nice size back garden. We live in Melbourne but often visit family and friends in England, this place will be number 1 on my list for my next visit if there’s availability! Would definitely recommend for families, has everything you would need and location was perfect, central to everything but very peaceful.
