Qué harás

A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour recreational and educational goat experience. You'll meet your hosts (and our herd of Alpine dairy goats), and hear about their 15 years of experience with goats and living on a small family farm. Once we've met the goats and other animals residents of the farm, we’ll set off on a hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with the goats. The hike consists of an approximately one mile loop trail through our woods on fairly well maintained trails. Along the way we’ll talk about goats as pack animals and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. There's lots of time for interacting with the goats, asking questions, or just soaking in the Maine woods and these adorable, fun animals. After the hike, you can try your hand at milking a goat, and we always end the experience with fresh goat milk and cookies!

Please note: On the hike there is some steep terrain. Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. (Children under 4 must be carried).

Dónde estarás

A Ten Apple Farm goat hike starts at our 1901 traditional New England connected Farmhouse and homestead. We have spent the past 14 years restoring the homestead's agricultural heritage. We are a diversified farm, so there's a little bit of everything here, and something for everyone: goats, pigs, sheep, poultry, a large garden, fruit trees, and 18 acres of beautiful Maine woods and trails, on which we hike with the goats.

We had a great time! Karl and Margaret provided a really unique experience. Weather was a challenge--cold rainy day, but they pulled out all the stops to make it a great experience for us including homemade treats, baby goats, goat milking, goat hiking, baby goat bottle feeding and more. Two of my party were gluten intolerant--we let them know ahead of time--and they even made up gluten free muffins as part of the treats. They truly went above and beyond. If you are on the fence about this--go for it!

It was a wonderful experience. They were super welcoming and made sure everyone got the most out of it even though it was a bit rainy and cold. I loved getting to milk the goats and hike with them.

Karl and Margaret were the best hosts! Despite the rainy weather, they made sure we still had a great time at their farm. They shared with us some great stories that were very inspiring and taught us about their animals that we interacted with. We also loved the home baked goods they provided us before and after the hike. Overall this was a full and wholesome experience that I would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

I am so glad I did this experience. Lots of learning and lots of laughter. Goats are incredibly funny and make excellent company. Karl and Margaret will make you feel like you were visiting old friends. They truly welcome you into their home and their love for goats and farm life is clear. You have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with the goats as well as enjoy delicious home baked treats. The hike takes place in their 18 acre yard and when finished you’ll know that you truly are in The Pine Tree State. Highly recommend.
