We'll meet in our Fully loaded Laboratory located in the heart of El Poblado, Medellin overlooking the Andes mountains. We'll start with a brief overview of the origin of coffee in Colombia then jump right in to a sensory experience, analyzing fragrance and aroma of three different qualities of coffee; commercial, specialty, and a special processed coffee. We'll move on to the tasting of the three qualities and discuss their different attributes and characteristics. We'll discuss the three qualities and their impacts in the market, from farm to consumer, and discuss why the specialty coffee market is so important. We'll wrap up the experience with the preparation of one of our favorite coffees of the season using one of the more popular brewing methods; chemex, V60, Kalita.
What started as a passion, quickly turned in to a life journey and career. I own a Specialty Coffee exporting business based in Medellin, El Poblado (coffee lab & office) and a warehouse in Southwest Antioquia. We work directly with over 150 farmers in Antioquia paying premiums based on the quality of the cup. We work to provide sustainability to our producer partners by way of high-end specialty coffee and sustainable practices. We cup and analyze each coffee we purchase, work directly with farmers on various processing methods to increase their return, and give back socially through our Coffee Education Center. I'm Colombian blooded, American born and raised, living in Medellin for close to 4 years, 7 years in coffee. My grandfather was a coffee farmer all of his life which is where I get my love for coffee! :)

The class will be given in our professional Coffee Lab in the heart of Medellin (El Poblado). We'll be using the same equipment and utensils we use to analyze and cup over 100 samples a week from all over the country.

We'll be tasting coffees with no sugar or milk, just filtered water. We'll provide everything you'll need to have a great experience. We do ask that you DO NOT apply any smelly lotions or perfumes as this will really disrupt the sensory experience.
