Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in Woodstock, the oldest multi-ethnic neighbourhood in South Africa. You will mix with many different race and religious groups. You will share a truly African experience with us. We will do whatever it takes to make your stay in Cape Town a memorable one. We will help you plan your excursions in and around Cape Town, should you need assistance. The bus stop into the CBD is 100 meters away and connects you to most parts of CT. Great for airport transfers.
There are two bedrooms in the house located on the first floor. Cosmopolitan Cape Town now has an en-suite bathroom and Cosmopolitan Woodstock has it's own private bathroom adjacent to the bedroom. This listing is within walking distance of great restaurants and shops.
For a video that gives you a good idea of the neighbourhood, go to my Facebook page capetownaccomodation.woodstock. Woodstock is the oldest multi-ethnic neighbourhood in Cape Town. You will therefore mix with people from all cultures and religions. Some of the houses are still "original" meaning that they have not been updated yet. It is this that makes this neighbourhood vibrant and exciting be be in. Many of the older formerly dilapidated buildings have now been bought by entrepreneurs who are changing them into design studios, schools and other trendy businesses. Staying in Woodstock gives the visitor a real sense of inner-city living, whilst positioning one close to the city centre, bustling Long Street, the museums, galleries, trendy Kloof Street and the V&A Waterfront. Table Mountain looms in the background and one has a sense of the city as it really is. Woodstock’s dilapidated charm is what has made it such a good contingent for the inner-city revival that has recently taken the suburb by storm - incredibly, about a hundred years ago, this colourful community was once a farming village called Papendorp. Young professionals are snapping up Victorian semis and taking advantage of these still affordable homes. Add to this a couple of neighbourhood restaurants and cafés and Woodstock’s acquired village atmosphere makes it a suburb to be reckoned with.

The suburb of Observatory is situated on the north-facing lower slopes of Devil's Peak. The slope runs into the Liesbeeck River and, as such much of present-day lower Observatory was a marshy estuary formed by the rivers, where buffalo, hippo, elephant, zebra, jackals, antelope, lions and leopards were once prevalent. The Raapenberg Bird Sanctuary protects 10 hectares (25 acres) of land along the Liesbeek River. It continues to be a somewhat alternative part of town, with 'New Age' style stores and several programmes at the Observatory Community Centre. A vintage hand held mixer, kitchen scale & cake pans even. Coffee plunger, coffee cups & saucers, wine glasses & hiballs & tumblers. Iron. There are 2 beach towels for you to use at the pool or take to the beach in addition to the bath sheet & hand towels. Fresh white linen & blockout curtaining & sunfilter curtaining in the bedroom make this a lovely cosy space at night.
Address The flat is at Harbour View apartment building at 17 Bromwell street (it's a block of 100 units), about ten units are listed on Airbnb with different owners. It is 3.7km (8mins) from the middle of long street, Cape Town central. This unit is a private one bedroom apartment with an ensuite off the bedroom. It is a corner 3rd floor unit, so every room has stunning views of the city. We have direct view of the mountain, and also look West towards Cape Town. This unit is not on the railway side of the building, but there is the sound of trains from 5am - 8pm. We are not in walking distance to either the Woodstock or the Salt River train stations. So there is no rush of commuters near our building. That said, there is a very small but notorious informal settlement near the train bridge, where drug peddlers hang. At the corner of Railway Road & Strand Street. Be on guard. Stay far away from this side. Safety first. Parking There is a parking space in a ground floor garage and I recently found out that the parking bay adjacent to mine is actually unallocated, which means there is now a large parking bay for you. Previous guests had to share with another car, which I now know was parking there illegally! Before it was very tight to get in and out. Cape of Storms The Cape Of Storms, as Cape Town is known by locals, have some endearing names for our wind. We call her the Cape Doctor. We're on the Southern Tip of Africa, have this Huge Mountain and we have the meeting of two oceans, the Indian and the Atlantic, so with that comes storms & winds. We're also one of the greenest parts of South Africa because of it. Sometimes we literally cannot load our ships with cargo, cause the containers become quite unmanageable in the strong winds. To counter this, I've put seals on the doors so that the wind can't tunnel through the place. That said, I like the fresh air and this apartment is a corner unit, so it has views from all the rooms :) I love just sitting in the lounge and watchings the goings on, their are blinds so I don't feel like people at the restaurant nearby can see in, but who cares if they do! I would close the blinds if I felt like some privacy... There are block out curtains in the bedroom so you can get sound sleep there. Shout if you need some ear plugs for the winds. About Woodstock As you may know Woodstock is like little like India, a place of contrasts...Not quite as intense. The Test Kitchen is one block away, within the Biscuit Mill precinct, however, think Jozi Maboneng.. now, don't walk around after dark or in the wee hours of the morning. Odd types love the area. So I would recommend you rather stick to uber to get around, that way you keep yourself out of troubles way. Lower Woodstock is a confluence of haves and havenots and tourists might not be a welcome sight to hardened locals fighting for survival in the harsh reality of a country that battles HIV & Aids, foetal alcohol syndrome, drug addiction, high unemployment rates, violence all of which make up the common landscape of Woodstock. However the vast majority of people in Woodstock remain positive, amazingly resilient and friendly. Despite or because of this rich rugged reality, there has emerged a renowned art & design district. Cafe's and restaurants are dotted around the area and other attractions e.g. Roxy's All Day, Three Feather's Cafe, The Old Biscuit Mill, Salt Circle Arcade, The Neighbourgoods Market, The Woodstock Exchange, The Local Grill, The Bromwell Boutique Mall, The Upper East Side Hotel/Restaurant & VidaE Cafe, Balmoral Supermarket, Fast Food on Victoria Road: St Elmos Pizzeria, Debonairs Pizzeria, Nandos, KFC, Banks: FNB, Absa, Standard & Nedbank all in walking distance. The area has an industrial charm and the architectural streetscape lends itself to untold stories and non-white-picket-fenced-preconceived-ideas. I wouldn't walk anywhere in Woodstock after dark. Afraid there is simply too much of a contrast between the haves and have nots for people to feel that equality is anything other than an idealized thought process. Africa has a harsh sun and a harsh reality. But delivers punches of thrills and pizazz all the more for it. The building is safe, we have 24 hour security. Saturday mornings is totally fine, the street feels like a camps bay mountain road in that every conceivable spot is parked with fancy cars from the posh side of town. (We're not the posh side of town, we're the edgy, hip, cool, gentrifying side of the city bowl). So walk around on Saturday morning, no problem. It's a place to be seen! I'd love to show you around the neighbourhood so that you can get your bearings. There are some hidden gems, such as The New Modernist, who recently moved in a few buildings down the road. Bespoke designer furniture with a retro touch. I really hope you have a great time, I just dropped the price cause I got a bad review from a rather unfortunate guest, who got fired from her job after day 1. Things seemed to go pear shaped for her, and introducing her to some of my architect acquaintances to try help her get her back on track, well, that didn't work out for her either. It was also unfortunate that the geyser burst while she was staying, but fortunately it got fixed without any inconvenience to her, She did take some lovely shots of the apartment for her instagram!

Nestled in the heart of bustling Woodstock, this apartment is a great space for an easy stay. Located close to Roodebloem road with all its restaurants and little shops, close to major highways coming in and out the city and just up the road from the Old Biscuit Mill, a local favourite every Saturday morning famous for its food market. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with good quality furnishing and finishes, great base to have while exploring beautiful Cape Town.
This is a very clean and comfortable apartment. In the sleeping area, there is ample cupboard space and the room itself is quite large with space for a sofa bed to unfold to allow for an extra guest. There is a small table in the passageway which leads out from the kitchen, which has everything you'll need to your thing. The building itself is monitored by 24 Hour security on duty. The elevator will take you up from the secure, under cover parking bay to the second floor where the apartment is situated. The apartment is best suited for 2 adults but there is provision for an extra guest by using the sofa couch. Wifi is 1GB free per day! :)

"Notwithstanding the lower parts of Woodstock becoming run down in the second half of the 20th century, with litter, crime and drugs becoming a serious issue, the face of Woodstock has changed dramatically over the last decade. Young professionals have been quick to take advantage of still affordable pretty Victorian semi-detached homes, many of which have been beautifully renovated and restored. Trendy restaurants, innovative media and other businesses, offices, shops and furniture showrooms have sprung up in cleverly converted and revamped warehouses, abandoned buildings and even a disused Castle Brewery.
