my first time in Borongan and the place lived up to our expectations. the host was phenomenal and allowed us to use the kitchen even if it wasn't included. the place is minimalist and answers what you would expect from a hotel room. it is very central to everything and has a big area outside for parking or if you want to enjoy some time with your friends. rupert is a wonderful host and makes sure you enjoy everything and dont miss out of anything.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt im Balay Guti. Sehr schönes Haus mit Pool in sehr guter Lage. Jeden Morgen gab es ein gutes Frühstück. Wer für eine größere Personenanzahl kochen möchte, bringt eigene Töpfe mit, es gibt nur einen kleinen Topf und eine kleine Pfanne. wir empfehlen das Haus und Jess mit ihren Mitarbeitern unbedingt und kommen gerne wieder. We visited Borongan City for the Philippine National Surfing Championship, and we’re so happy with our decision to stay at Rupert’s Airbnb. I loved being sheltered under a big tree, with walls covered in plants. Their friendly dogs made us feel right at home. The staff and customer service were incredibly helpful. I appreciated the privacy and calm atmosphere—it’s less crowded compared to staying in a hotel, and the large property makes the place feel open and relaxing. The property is well-maintained. The place was serene and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing staycation. We had breakfast overlooking the beach by sunrise, and walked on the beach by sunset. We didn't swim on the beach because of the jellyfish, but we were able to enjoy the pool with the sound of calm waves at the background. Our room was also clean and spacious. Disney+ in our room and cable in the shared living room were available and working. Ms. Kat and her family were very kind and hospitable. They offered us different kinds of food, and even had us taste torta, a delicacy in Samar. Ms. Kat was also very helpful in giving directions, and arranging tours and transportation for us in Tacloban, Leyte, and Basey, Samar. The caretakers were also very pleasant and assisted us in getting a van back to Tacloban on our last day. We truly enjoyed our stay as it felt like a home away from home. We hope to be back with our families in the future!

Rupert and his team were extremely responsive and helpful throughout my stay. He even went out of his way to help me book a transport to the airport. The room was exactly as described and showed in the photos — I particularly loved that there were options for lighting, hot water shower, and enough storage. Clean, spacious, and worth the price. Icing on the cake was a Borongan magazine that helped me check out local spots. Thank you to Rupert and team! Will definitely come back!
